INDIANAPOLIS — IHSAA Commissioner Bobby Cox announced Monday the new classifications for 409 IHSAA member schools in several sports for the next two school years.
The enrollment figures, the total of boys and girls in grades 9-12, were submitted by the schools to the Indiana Department of Education last fall and are used to determine the classifications in the sports of baseball, boys and girls basketball, football, soccer, softball and volleyball.
A total of 34 schools will play in a different classification in football than they had in the previous two-year cycle. In the four-class sports, 39 schools have changed levels. State tournaments in boys and girls soccer will be contested in a two-class format for the first time next fall.....
