UNION CITY — South Adams started its sectional push this past Saturday, with a 53-47 decision over Union City at the Indians' gym. It was the fifth win of the season for Ryan Biegel's Starfires.
The Stars will host a sectional and will play Bluffton in a five-team tourney at the Stardome. Adams Central will play in the semi-finals against Bishop Luers.
All four quarters were tight this past Saturday with South Adams holding a slight edge in all of the first three periods for a 34-28 lead before both teams went on an offensive splurge in the final eight minutes with 19 points apiece.
South Adams held its largest lead of the game at 24-13 but Union City hit the final three hoops of the period to cut the margin to five at half at 24-19. The final tie of the game came at 11-11 in the second period but Dustin Wanner, who scored a game-high 25 points for the Starfires, netted a hoop at 6:21 and South Adams never trailed after that point....
