Estimated electric bills can be avoided

FORT WAYNE – If customers notice a slight change in the electric bill, it may be because the electric company can't access the meter to get an accurate reading.

When employees from the power company cannot gain access to a customer meter, electricity usage for that month is estimated.

Severe winter weather that made roads impassable just a week ago have left behind large accumulations of snow and ice in areas near electric meters, a hazard for Indiana Michigan Power meter readers and line mechanics.....
