INDIANAPOLIS — Numerous state agencies are preparing to respond to the winter storm that forecasters expect could dump up to 18 inches of snow in northwestern Indiana and an inch or more of ice in the state's midsection.
Gov. Mitch Daniels on Monday directed the state Department of Homeland Security to coordinate preparations for the storm, which was expected to move into the state Monday night. The governor's office says meetings were being conducted with utility companies, local emergency agencies, the state highway department and National Guard....
