Foresters' big comeback bid falls short against USF

After being down by as many as 19 points, the Huntington University men's basketball team got within one but was held off and wound up losing to visiting University of Saint Francis, 85-83, on Tuesday, Jan. 18.

Huntington, now 15-6, 4-4 in conference, initially controlled the scoreboard for the first 15 minutes of the game, getting as much as an eight-point-gap, but St. Francis wouldn't have it as the 12th-ranked Cougars, 17-5, 6-2 in conference, commenced a six-minute, 16-6 run to gain the lead at the 4:26 mark. USF kept HU at bay to close the half up by one at 33-32.

Huntington again drew first blood in the second half, but St. Francis steadily assembled its first double-digit lead, 56-45, by the eighth minute of the half. Huntington crept closer, but an 11-0 run over three minutes gave the Cougars a 19-point lead with five to go....
