The Roanoke Town Council approved pay raises for the town's employees during a special meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 23.
The raises will take effect in 2011. The increases were built into the 2011 budget during budget planning meetings last summer, and allowed the council to give up to 4 percent raises.
No town employee or elected official received a pay increase in 2010.
Merit raises of 2 to 4 percent will be given to utility department employees, merit raises of 2 to 3 percent will be given to the police department and a merit raise of 2 percent will be given to the deputy clerk-treasurer......
