Lady Vikings' Gretchen and Natalie Spahr to run for HU

Huntington North High School girls' cross country and track stars Gretchen and Natalie Spahr will continue their athletic careers a few blocks away at Huntington University.

The Spahrs signed the appropriate paperwork Tuesday evening, Dec. 21, at HNHS.

"We met the team and really enjoyed them, and we wanted to run, so it sounded good to us," Natalie Spahr said of the sisters' choice.

Gretchen Spahr was among the team's top three runners all four years in cross country, and helped the team to a 16th place finish at state this year and 10th place finishes in 2008 and 2009. She was the team most valuable runner in 2009, when she broke the school record at 5,000 meters and was sectional champion, North Central Conference champ and all-state....
