Huntington County veterans’ groups team up to give van to shelter that helps homeless vets

Several veterans' organizations in Huntington County have donated a seven-passenger van to Shepherd's House in Fort Wayne, which provides shelter and services to homeless military veterans.

The project was spearheaded by the American Legion Riders of American Legion Post 7 in conjunction with American Legion Post 85, the Sons of the American Legion, American Legion Post 160, and Dennis and Joyce Allen.

The American Legion Riders visited Shepherd's House after bringing the Vietnam Traveling Wall to Huntington last September. In talking with the homeless veterans who had taken shelter there, they learned that the veterans desperately needed transportation that would allow them to take jobs in outlying areas.....
