FORT WAYNE – South Adams loaded the bases in both the fifth and sixth innings, but could only punch across a pair of late runs as they fell to Bluffton at Indiana Tech on Thursday night by a 6-3 score in the opening round of the Class 2A Bishop Luers Sectional. The sectional loss ended the season for the Starfires.
Bluffton jumped on South Adams starter Dustin Wanner early, using three straight singles and a fielder’s choice to score a pair of runs in the first inning. Cameron Gerber, Cody Cochran and Tyler Holmes all singled with Holmes’ single, the third straight hit by Bluffton to open the game, scoring Gerber.
