South Adams put the process in place toward selling its Geneva property and accepted an offer from the Indiana Department of Transportation on portions of its Berne elementary land during its school board meeting Tuesday evening.
School attorney Jim Beitler advised the board that they could opt for two different methods of shedding the former middle school ground in Geneva, holding a public auction or setting a period of time for bids.
The board decided unanimously to open bidding on the property on June 14 through July 12 with the idea that it would decide whether or not to accept one of the bids during its regularly scheduled meeting on July 13.
“We need to consider South Adams and represent all of South Adams,” Superintendent Cathy Egolf stated regarding the sell of the Geneva ground. “Maintaining that property takes labor and costs, plus it adds to our liability insurance....
