Seventeen year-old Eric Isch, of rural Geneva, emerged from a pack of 112 participants to win the Monroe Lions Club 5K race Saturday in Monroe. Isch finished the five-kilometer race in 17:33, 37 seconds ahead of the race runner-up – Nathan Rupp of rural Berne.
The race field was spared Saturday’s downpours, as rain stopped minutes before the race, but picked up again after the awards ceremony finished. The humid conditions did slow the field a bit.
Denise Conrad, of Decatur, was the top female runner in 20:11, beating Linn Grove’s Maddie Moore by 70 seconds....
