Decatur Daily Democrat:
It's all over for the elementary schools at Monroeville and Harlan.
The East Allen County Schools Board voted 4-2 on Tuesday night to close Monroeville Elementary School in a money-saving consolidation plan. Board members Richard Allgeier and Neil Reynolds voted against the change.
The vote on closing Harlan Elementary was unanimous.
Several board members expressed disagreement with the decisions, citing other schools to be closed. After several failed amendments, the 4-2 and 6-0 votes were cast.
Board member Stephen Terry was absent.
Next fall, Monroeville students will go to Hoagland Elementary School. The redesign plan, however, also calls for the Hoagland facility to be closed eventually, with all its students sent to what is now Heritage Junior-Senior High School.....
