Huntington Republicans will choose their mayoral nominee from a field that includes a current mayor, a former mayor, three current or former city council members, a law enforcement officer and a political newcomer.
That's seven candidates, if you're counting.
Democrats, on the other hand, have just one mayoral candidate - a local businessman - on their primary ballot.
The city's mayor is elected for a four-year term, and there is no limit to the number of terms a mayor can serve. The mayor serves as the city's executive officer, setting a course for the city and implementing the decisions of the city council....
