Huntington County Tab:
Huntington County Clerk Kittie Keiffer and Deputy Pam Fowler registered 185 Huntington North High School students as new voters during a day-long session Thursday, March 3, in the HNHS commons.
Anyone who will be 18 years old before the general election on Nov. 8 is eligible to vote in the primary election, Keiffer explains, even if they are only 17 at the time of the primary. Primary elections are being held for voters in Huntington city and in Andrews on Tuesday, May 3.
Some teachers brought their students to the commons for the 10-minute registration process, while other students stopped by the registration table during their lunch hour.
"We just feel it's necessary to be here and get them registered," Keiffer says.
Anyone who is not registered to vote, or who needs to transfer a registration, has until the end of the day on Monday, April 4, to register or transfer a registration and still be eligible to vote in the primary.....
