A breakdown in the relay system at an American Electric Power substation on US 224 in Decatur caused a power failure at midafternoon Monday that affected more than 1,400 AEP customers in the city and in the rural area extending several miles west of Decatur.
Dave Mayne, a spokesman at the Indiana and Michigan Power office in Fort Wayne, said this morning that the problem occurred shortly after 3 p.m. and all customers were reconnected by 5:36 p.m.....
