Senior Gretchen Spahr led the way for the Huntington North High School girls' cross country team as it earned a ticket to the state meet next week at Terre Haute with a fifth place finish at the New Haven semi-state on Saturday, Oct. 23.
Spahr shook off a season of injury and illness to place 17th in 19:26.15 and lead a gritty pack effort by the Lady Vikings as they punched their ticket to state with a total of 164 points.
Carroll won the meet with 72 points. West Noble was second with 97 points, Columbia City was third with 108 points, Fort Wayne Concordia was fourth with 126 and DeKalb got the sixth and final qualifying spot with 180 points.....
