2011-2012 calendar receives school board approval

After its third appearance on the agenda, a calendar for the 2011-12 school year finally won approval from the Huntington County Community School Corporation Board of School Trustees.

The board adopted the calendar by three votes Monday night, Oct. 25.

Superintendent of Schools Tracey Shafer said the revised calendar attempted to accomplish several things, including a student start time in the third week of August, letting the semester run as late into December before Christmas as possible without shortening or lengthening the holiday vacation, and accommodating the ISTEP testing windows mandated by the state of Indiana....
