Tighter rules for Ind. scholarship program advance
East Allen Times:
INDIANAPOLIS — A proposal to tighten the eligibility rules for Indiana's popular 21st Century Scholars program has cleared a state Senate committee.
The Senate Appropriations Committee voted 8-4 Thursday to approve a bill that would overhaul the state's college financial aid system.
Student Assistance Commission director Claudia Braman told the committee that the cost of the 21st Century Scholars program has grown quickly because more have joined the program that promises full college scholarships to needy students who stay out of trouble and get acceptable grades.....
