As had been predicted for days by the National Weather Service, a major winter storm roared into the area late yesterday afternoon with sleet, snow, freezing rain and northeast winds that exceeded 50 miles per hour at times.
The storm, which carved out a path of destruction and havoc over a 1,500 mile path that affected 30 states, moved into southwest and western Indiana by noon yesterday and invaded the local area late in the afternoon with strong winds and mainly sleet. Farther to the north and west blizzard conditions formed while a crippling ice storm developed to the south.....
