City officials agree to partially fund study to combine city-county emergency dispatch facilities

City officials agreed Tuesday, Feb. 8, to partially fund a study designed to restart a discussion of combining city and county emergency dispatch facilities.

The Huntington Common Council members, however, delayed decisions on allocating funds to update the Huntington County Geographic Information System (GIS) and to begin bringing city street signs into compliance with new federal guidelines.

In other business, the council unanimously appointed James Rush to the city's Economic Development Commission. Rush, who says he has worked in industry for 30 years, was one of three people to seek the position. Council members urged the other two candidates, Mary Tobin and Jeff Kyle, to consider being involved in other community leadership positions......
