It was a throwback to the days when hamburgers cost 45 cents, hot dogs were 40 cents, soft drinks were a dime, and milk shakes rang up at 35 cents.
People were reading such comics as, “Dennis the Menace,” “Lil Abner,” “Dick Tracy,” “Archie,” and “Casper the Friendly Ghost,” and people were sitting around their box-type radios in the living room listening to such programs as, “Fibber McGee and Molly,” “Great Gildersleeve,” and “One Man’s Family.”
