The Boys and Girls Club program of Adams County is in the process of establishing a new mentoring program geared at offering a more effective one-on-one approach with county youth.
The program, known as, “Mentoring Adams County Kids,” is very similar to the highly-acclaimed, “Big Brothers, Big Sisters,” program according to program coordinator, Jessica Shaffer. The new emphasis will be serving all parts of the county through clubs in Decatur and Berne.
“The purpose of this program is to recruit and serve kids that need a more positive emphasis in their lives,” said Shaffer. “We’re in the process of starting to recruit adults who can serve as mentors for the program. They (adults) will meet with their kids on a periodic basis to establish a one-on-one relationship from which they can relate to certain needs that they have.”...
