Monmouth Elementary School Principal Mike Casper, who is retiring at the end of the current school year, is passing on to students and staff at the school many of the hippopotamus trinkets he has collected over the past 28 years.
The "hunt" began May 3, and continued daily through this Friday, when every student and staff member has had the opportunity to choose from the collection.
Casper said of the approximately 500 hippos he acquired from family, friends, students, parents and teachers, he is keeping around 200 to pass along to his family and to donate to Adams Memorial Hospitals Toys & Teddies project. ....
