Berne Tri-Weekly News:
The Monroe town council held a hearing last night on a request from Zurcher Tire and locally owned DeMaje Properties LLC for the town to vacate land which borders property owned by the two businesses.
The three tracts, begin at Polk St. and extend to east of the tech business owned by DeMaje, and from Jackson St. to Andrews St. According to Dan Lehman, representing DeMaje Properties, plans are to aesthetically improve the area, by planting grass and trees, putting in a sidewalk, and doing other improvements on the property. The council voted 2-0 to vacate the property, with Lehman abstaining.
