Decatur Daily Democrat:
With the clutch Bellmont performance in overtime Tuesday the Bellmont Braves not only broke a 14-game skid in 2011, but the squad also snapped a five-game sectional slide, which started with a 56-47 loss to Concordia in the opening game of the 2006 sectional.
The host Braves beat the Maconaquah Braves (14-6) 59-57 in overtime Tuesday in a game that featured a bizarre finish. It looked like the game was over with Bellmont winning 58-57, but one official noticed Maconaquah calling time out. Seconds were put back on the clock and Maconaquah was issued a technical foul because they didn't have any time outs. Joe Baker missed both free throws, but the Braves got the ball back and Forrest Fullenkamp hit one toss after he was fouled. Time finally ran out on the visiting Braves....
