With the mayor’s seat empty, the Board of Public Works and Safety passed a resolution on Monday morning, July 19, to accept a grant which will return all six laid-off firefighters to work beginning Aug. 15.
The $817,360 SAFER (Staffing for Adequate Fire and EmergencyResponse) grant, awarded on May 20 by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, is intended for operations, including hiring. It is funded through the United States Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters program....
