City accepts grant to rehire firefighters

With the mayor’s seat empty, the Board of Public Works and Safety passed a resolution on Monday morning, July 19, to accept a grant which will return all six laid-off firefighters to work beginning Aug. 15.

The $817,360 SAFER (Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency
