The Berne City Council approved the 2010 budget of $1,404,951 at Tuesday night’s council meeting. Regular meetings are held on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. However, the board met on Tuesday due to the observance of Columbus Day on Monday.
Clerk-Treasurer Gwen Maller noted that estimated expenses for the last six months of 2009 had been $900,833, leaving total budgeted expenses from July 1, 2009 through Dec. 31, 2010 at $2,305,784.
Revenue for the period includes 2009 taxes, $390,000, miscellaneous for the last half of 2009, $271,078, 2010 miscellaneous, $510,157, and 2010 taxes, $877,762. The total revenue for the time period would be $2,049,296, leaving a deficit of $256,488.
