A total of six people applied to replace Myron Schwartz on the South Adams Schools Board. The six applicants were interviewed Tuesday, and the board president, Tony Mellencamp, announced during the board’s regularly scheduled monthly meeting Tuesday that Mitchel Sprunger was chosen to fill the position. Schwartz, who was not present during Tuesday’s meeting, resigned his position during last month’s school board meeting to be effective on or before August 12, 2009. Schwartz has been hired as a South Adams High School science teacher. He had one year left on his board term. "We are pleased to have Mitch Sprunger on the board while, at the same time, sorry to see Myron go. Mitch will do a great job fulfilling Myron's term as he has much experience and perspective to bring to the board. We were certainly pleased to have six qualified candidates apply and were sorry that we could pick only one, but that was what we were obligated to do," said Mellencamp. The other applicants for the position were Chuck Circle, Audrey Muselman, Amy Orr, Steve Hoeppner and Cathy Davis. |
