The Swiss Heritage Society will sponsor the official Swiss Days Bake Away Contest Friday, July 24 at 10 a.m. at the Swiss Heritage Village/Museum in Berne. There will be three categories: Kids’ Cookies, Frosted Cakes and Decorated Cookies. The Frosted Cakes category will accept entries in two divisions - single layer cakes and the multilayer cakes. Please place the cake on a flat stiff cardboard base at least one inch bigger than the cake.
The Kids’ Cookie category will have two divisions. One division is for kids entering kindergarten through second grade this fall. The second division is for kids entering the third grade through the sixth grade this fall. Cookies need to be made from scratch and include six cookies. The Decorated Cookies will have one division and should include 6 cookies.
Contest rules include the following:
• All entries must be “from scratch” no box or mixes or prepared dough.
• Each entrant must include a recipe card for each entry. DO NOT put the entrant’s name on the recipe card.
• Participation is open to the public and includes all ages and genders.
• Participants may enter more than one category, but only one entry per division. For example: you may enter one single-layer cake recipe and one multilayer cake recipe, but not two single-layer cake or two multilayer cake recipes.
Check in time is from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. with judging beginning at 10 a.m. SHARP!
