PORTLAND – South Adams senior Erika Waugh claimed a pair of sectional title Saturday at Jay County, winning both the 500-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke to advance to the IHSAA swimming state finals for the third consecutive season.
Waugh blasted the field in the 500 free, taking first in 5:24.20, just missing her sectional record set a year ago. Her nearest competition in the event finished over 31 seconds behind.
She then scored a sectional title in the 100 backstroke, winning in 1:00.85, setting a new South Adams school and sectional record in the process.....
