Huntington loses a piece of history in blaze that claims former Huser Cigar building

Huntington lost a little piece of history this past weekend after a fire that destroyed the former Huser Cigar building.

Located at 816 W. Tipton St., Huser Cigar was the place to buy cigars, tobacco as well as candy and gum wholesale.

The business was once owned by the late Gerald H. Miller, who had been an employee of the company for several years prior to acquiring it.

"We were a wholesale outlet, selling a number of products," states John Miller, Miller's son. "We sold sundries, paper products, ice cream cones, chocolates and candies as well as cigars and tobacco."

The business served customers including a few restaurants within a 50-mile radius....
