Arts Place at 131 E. Walnut Street, Portland, is offering a full day of workshops on Saturday, Feb. 20 for artists of all ages. Classes will take place at both the Portland and St. Marys centers. For more information on these programs call 260-726-4809. Kid workshops include:
Fantastic Fiber: 10-10:45 a.m. Little Arts: Polymer Clay Workshop This class is for the little artist ages four through six. Students will squish, roll and mold colorful clay into fantastic projects. Cost for the workshop is $20 which includes all supplies. Instructor Kate Morgan will lead the session.
Basketry Workshop: 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Spend this workshop making a wall (hanging) basket with instructor Wilma Rigby. Participants may bring lunch for a break. Cost is $35 and includes most supplies. Please bring a sharp scissors and a flat head screwdriver.
Art School for Kids: Fantastic Fiber Workshop: 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Led by Kate Morgan, students age seven through 13 will tell stories with cloth. Stamp, fold, cut, glue, sew and embellish cloth into art! Participants may bring lunch for a small break. Cost is $35 including all supplies.
Make Your Mark Workshop: 2:30-4:30 p.m. Kate Morgan will lead adults (age 14 and older) through a session of finding personal creativity. This class is all about getting started or getting “unstuck”. Cost is $35 and includes all supplies.
Tattoo You Workshop: 2:30-4:30 p.m. Instructor Kat Koeller will teach this workshop for ages 10 and older. Design your own tattoo and learn the history of tribal art. Participants will use glitter tattoos, body paint and henna pens for designs that will last up to two weeks. Cost is $30 and includes all supplies.
Little Arts: Flower Pounding Workshop: 10-10:45 a.m. A one day adventure into fun! Students ages four to six will pound flowers into cloth to make pretty designs. Fabric artist Cathy Jeffers can direct your child’s imagination into a wonderful work of art. Cost is $20 and includes all supplies.
Art Doll Workshop: 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Fond of creatures big and small? Some that fly, some that swim...a hero or an imaginary friend? Instructor Cathy Jeffers will teach how a simple cloth body is designed and sewn, stuffed and embellished. Teachers this is a great tie-in to your classrooms. Cost is $40 and includes all supplies. Participants are asked to bring lunch for a small break.
