Greatbatch will invest $17M in new Allen Co. facility

ALLEN COUNTY - Greatbatch Medical, a surgical orthopedic product and medical instrument manufacturer, will move its Whitley County operations to Allen County, where it will build an 80,000-square-foot facility and create up to 76 jobs by 2014, state officials announced.

The manufacturer plans to begin construction this spring at a 20-acre site on Kroemer Road near U.S. 30 and Sweetwater Sound. It will invest more than $17 million in the project.

“With a record number of new deals last year, Indiana’s life sciences sector is on a roll,” Mitch Roob, secretary of commerce and chief executive officer of the Indiana Economic Development Corp., said in a statement. “(The) significant investment from Greatbatch is even more proof that Indiana is home to the orthopedics capital of the world.”....
