Waterloo man dies in car crash

WATERLOO — A Waterloo man died Thursday at 1:30 a.m. when he crashed after swerving to avoid a deer in the roadway, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department said.

Cody S. Collin, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by the DeKalb County Coroner, a news release said. The report said Collin died of blunt-force trauma and internal injuries.

Police said Collin was driving southbound in the 3100 block of C.R. 27, just north of C.R. 32, when he approached a deer that was in the roadway or had crossed the road in front of his 2001 Pontiac Grand Am.....
