Booster shots recommended to combat whooping cough outbreak

East Allen Times:

MUNSTER — Health officials are recommending that adults in Indiana get booster shots to protect against whooping cough because at least 600 cases have been reported this year in the state.

State Health Department epidemiologist Angie Cierzniewski (SIHZH'-new-ski) tells The Times of Munster that adults who are around infants in particular should receive a booster because infants are the most susceptible to the disease. She says infants are too young for an immunization and the state's two deaths from the illness have been children younger than 2 months old....
