Hundreds of teachers protest education bills

East Allen Times:

VALPARAISO — Hundreds of northern Indiana teachers turned out to protest contentious education changes Republican state lawmakers are pushing.
About 400 teachers and supporters gathered Wednesday outside the Porter County Courthouse in Valparaiso, waving signs and chanting "Save our schools."
Retired Portage High School government teacher Ronald Hancock told The Times of Munster that a bill that would restrict teachers' collective bargaining rights except in money matters was the ultimate insult. He says his "blood is boiling" over that and other GOP proposals that include school vouchers and expanding charter schools.....
